PROS: Norton settings have hyperlinks that will open up help webpages, which explain the different options. Whenever VIPRE identified a virus, it would attempt to block it, but it almost always could not block all of it, which was highly annoying.

Norton is better at that, blocking them completely. Norton also seems to be better at producing fewer “false positives” on my unusual programs, which VIPRE declared as “viruses”, which they are not. CONS: Norton does not publish customer service or tech support phone numbers on their website They only give options for chat.

I found the phone numbers by googling “Norton phone numbers”. The chat help for both customer service and tech support is not much good. Sometimes I find the answer on my own, while the agent still can’t figure it out. Based on Norton forums, it’s best to turn off the automatic software upgrades. Wait at least a couple months, then upgrade manually. It seems like the some major releases have had some serious problems. Some people expect to use the product they bought for a year and then near the end of the years time upgrade to the new version they downloaded and get another year of service. No, nada, ain’t gonna happen. This is well known and documented. Since the version you are not buying this software really when you buy these types of products You are buying a lease or the rights to use the software for a set time.

For this product it is 1 year. So if within the 1 year of installing this product a new version comes out, say , you can upgrade to that version no cost because again, you have bought the rights to use it Norton Internet Security. Why people would think they get another free year of using the product when they upgrade to the new version midway through their license is beyond me.

Again this is very well documented. For example a client found a version never been opened and installed it in August He was then able to download the version because that was then the newest one and has 1 year of service on it.

Another example is I have clients that buy the 3 year version directly from Norton Symantec , their usage clock is for 3 years and every time a new version comes out they get an email reminder telling them they are eligible for the new version. They have accessed and altered features from my facebook page, to my interface, attaching phones to my network possibly compiling information, completing words or changing words as I type, keeping me from accessing my Norton interface.
